Our Story

Many Paths

washitexture01_TP_V.jpg

EngiCrafts begins with a wish to connect cultures and inspire harmony, shaped by our founders’ cross-cultural backgrounds spanning the UK, China, and Japan. This wish is embodied in the word Engi (縁起), a term that speaks to the interconnectedness of all things, and to the unseen threads that bind people, objects, and time.

Our first expression of this philosophy took form through everyday ceramics. Through our Etsy shop, we offer wabi-sabi ceramic pieces that bring quiet beauty, tactile presence, and a sense of calm into everyday life. They are produced in our founders’ hometown, a region long renowned for its ceramic heritage, where material knowledge and lived tradition remain closely intertwined.

As our exploration of objects naturally led us deeper into the cultures that shaped them, Japan Annotations was born. This ongoing project shares stories of Japanese history, art, and aesthetics through short-form videos on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, offering context, nuance, and a slower way of looking in a fast-moving digital space.

Alongside this, we continue our exploration through another Etsy shop, YumeSupplies, which focuses on curated beads and DIY materials rooted in cultural object traditions. Here, we draw inspiration from Wénwán (文玩), a contemplative plaything deeply connected to Chinese literati culture.

Across these paths, we are not defined by a single medium or platform, but by an ongoing way of looking at objects, at histories, and at the meanings embedded in daily life. This space is where those explorations continue to unfold, one object, one story, and one connection at a time.
